Suzie should be lumped in with the other chain cafe’s of it’s caliber, Habit, 5 Guys, etc, but this one is the original. Not that they have any other locations, but it is owned by the 33rd Street Bistro company. Apparently their used to be a Suzies in Land Park, and two brothers wanted to recreate the burgers of their past. So, they converted 1960′s Orbit/Philips 66 Gas Station (Googie Architecture), complete with roll-up doors into their ideal burger stand. Good for them to turn this dump that used to be a LubeStop into something nice.
As for the burgers, they’re good. Again, nothing fantastic, but really tasty. And what makes them even tastier is the $5 pitchers of PBR and sitting under the space age roof where cars used to fill up with gas. The burgers are cheap too, and offer free toppings like mushrooms grilled onions, and jalapenos (just for you Mo!).
The fries and onion rings are good too. The RoShamBurger crew ordered our “Control Burger”; Bacon and Cheese, but had to go with the double patty in order to make it anything substantial. Meat is fresh, buns are toasted, can’t go wrong with that.
We may go back, but just for a quick burger fix – and maybe some PBR.
