Rubicon Brewing Company
What could go wrong? Brews. Burgers. Something else that starts with a “B” (…I got nothing). OK, maybe our waitress wasn’t a fan of the beers she was slinging, but I won’t hold that against her. I’ve been to the Rubicon numerous times, and I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed, and others must feel the same way, because it’s always packed.
So, the RoShamBro’s headed out last night, and although I knew what to expect, I had to put my burger critic hat on. After looking over the menu for what must have been 20-30 seconds, we all decided on the Rubi-Q Burger – topped with cheddar, applewood bacon, an onion ring, & BBQ sauce. Although this is a little beyond our usual “control” burger, we all felt it was the right thing to do.
After we downed a delicious IPA, Lance had the Monkey Knife Fight Pale, our burgers arrived with criss-cut fries (there might have been a veggie on the plate too, but who cares). All three burgers were cooked perfectly – medium rare of course. I know we always harp on this, but for some reason medium-rare seems really difficult to produce consistently.
After diving into our burgers, we all agreed; DELICIOUS. The bacon was thick, but crispy enough to bite through. The BBQ sauce was smokey and sweet, and made one hell of a mess. The onion ring added a nice crunch. The cheese was obviously lost in the onslaught of flavor, but it acted as nice binding agent I guess.
We will definitely go back, but that was a given. Go hungry, because the burgers are big. Go thirsty, because the beers are tasty.
