The Counter
The Counter Burger Bar is located in the Fountains in Roseville. The RSB’s had been talking about this stop on our burger tour for quite a while. Last week the stars finally came into alignment and we found ourselves on that end of town (according to my phone we were in a whole new time zone), and it sure felt like a long drive from Downtown Sacramento area. First walking into the restaurant it looked clean and well kept. We were quickly seated at an outside table by our friendly host. Next we had to try to navigate through the lengthy and very confusing menu/checkbox order sheet. Choose your meat, choose your burger size, choose your cheese(s), choose your toppings (approx 20 choices), choose your premium toppings, choose your sauce (another huge list of choices), choose your bread, choose your side…(how many more choices do I have to make?). Maybe I’ll just stick with a signature burger…or…I can’t make one more choice. Ok maybe a beer choice.
Mini Burger Truck
It’s official, Sacramento has finally caught up to the trendy food craze of gourmet delectable mobile eats and fortuitously, burgers! Mini Burger Truck shatters the old roach coach image and rolls in with a new age style of eating. This quality meals on wheels concept has been highly successful and some would say infectious in Southern California for quite some time now, and has finally made it’s way up to the capital city. Needless to say, the Ro Sham Burgers were anxious to try out this hip new way of dining/eating. Read More, see photos→
Gatsby’s
I had never heard of Gatsby’s, but that’s why we RoShamBurger – to discover new places. Looking at their website, I gained little info, other than its loose ties to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby by way of roaring 20′s inspired art.
Entering the diner, it wreaked of burgers (which is a good thing). I soon discovered why, in the middle of the dining area were two teppan grills normally reserved for Beni Hanna’s and the like. But instead of flipping shrimp into chef hats, they were cooking burgers to order on the large griddles. Read More→
Capitol Garage
The fact that the RoShamBurger bro’s ended up at Capitol Garage because of an unexpected and unfortunate closure of a scheduled stop on the tour, soon became a non-issue after an ice cold draft beer. Cheerfully greeted by our waitress, who was very helpful with items not listed on the menu for the little RoShammer, also recommended the Jack and Blue Burger(Jack Daniels sauteed mushrooms and onions with Gorgonzola crumbles) which was enjoyed by my two burger bro’s, I stuck with the control burger. All of the burgers came out perfectly cooked (medium rare) one with onion rings, which were very well cooked and tasty, and the others with fries seasoned with a special Capitol Garage mix of season salt, fresh cracked pepper, garlic powder, and sugar! VERY YUMMY! I washed all that yumminess down with an IPA from Lagunitas (Petaluma). Read More→
Rubicon Brewing Company
What could go wrong? Brews. Burgers. Something else that starts with a “B” (…I got nothing). OK, maybe our waitress wasn’t a fan of the beers she was slinging, but I won’t hold that against her. I’ve been to the Rubicon numerous times, and I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed, and others must feel the same way, because it’s always packed.
So, the RoShamBro’s headed out last night, and although I knew what to expect, I had to put my burger critic hat on. After looking over the menu for what must have been 20-30 seconds, we all decided on the Rubi-Q Burger – topped with cheddar, applewood bacon, an onion ring, & BBQ sauce. Although this is a little beyond our usual “control” burger, we all felt it was the right thing to do. Read More, see photos→
